Early orthodontic treatment
If you have young pre-teen or teenage children and you are considering braces for them, there are a number of issues you need to consider carefully.
When to start
Age can have an impact on a number of oral health issues. Therefore, the general rule of thumb in most cases is ‘seek an opinion as early as possible’. This doesn't mean start treatment early, rather get a professional observation on the developing teeth and jaw to ensure the best possible treatment when the time arises.
Baby teeth & adult teeth
Orthodontic treatment will typically be carried out when adult teeth have erupted. However, some intervention can be carried out prior to, or during, this growth phase to minimise treatment needed in the future.
